Who is Eligible?

Hospice provides palliative care and support for persons with terminal illness and a prognosis of having six months or less to live. Approximately 46% are cancer patients with the balance suffering from AIDS, Alzheimer's Disease, ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease), end stage heart and lung disease and other life-threatening non-cancer conditions. In recognition of the fact that it can be difficult to determine prognosis for patients affected by a life limiting, non-cancerous diagnosis the National Hospice Organization created several local medical review policies. These objectively address symptoms presented in an effort to establish a prognosis. We have attached these for educational purposes. Please feel free to contact one of our trained professionals with any interprative issues.
